Cuyahoga Landmark was founded in Cleveland in 1934 and the Strongsville store opened in 1938. After Gary Smith was discharged from the service in 1971, he was hired to sweep the floors at Cuyahoga Landmark, and later worked his way through the positions of truck driver, salesman, and maintenance man, finally becoming President of the company. Originally a co-op, Cuyahoga Landmark became a straight corporation and then began to be approached by outsiders wanting to buy the company. As the bidding commenced, Gary threw his hat in the ring, won the bidding, and became the new owner of Cuyahoga Landmark. We visited recently with Gary and Retail Manager Shawn Varga, and listened as they outlined the products and services they carry;

Cuyahoga Landmark offers a wide array of lawn and garden products and services, as well as a full line of fuels. Our lawn and garden store carries cat and dog food, squirrel, raccoon, and rodent controls, bird houses, bird baths, bird bath de-icers, bird feeders, and freshly blended bird seed mixes. We offer free estimates for landscaping services, grass mowing, and installation of mulch and flower beds. Our fuel station carries gasoline, on-road diesel fuel, off-road diesel fuel, and kerosene. In addition, Cuyahoga Landmark fills all size propane tanks for gas grills, RVs, and tow motors. We deliver petroleum products including heating oil throughout the nine county area to golf courses, construction sites, municipalities, and schools.
