When Jim and Rosalie Strachan, their daughter Donna, and son-in-law Dénes Pál purchased Danielle's Boarding Kennel in 1997, they decided to keep the name because they liked it so much. Jim and his daughter had always loved working with animals and as Dénes is a licensed vetenarian, they realized that a boarding kennel combined with a veterinarian practice had remarkable potential. We recently visited with Jim and listened as he explained the range of benefits and services provided by their unique business;
At Danielle's Boarding Kennel, we board all types of small household pets including dogs, cats, and even ferrets. Our care of all of the animals we board is terrific - nearly everyone who works here is a pet owner, and we take care of every animal that comes to Danielle's as though it was our own pet.
My daughter and I have always been interested in animals, and we saw a great opportunity when Danielle's Boarding Kennel was for sale. My son-in-law is a veterinarian, so it was the ideal opportunity to combine our interests with my son-in-law's practice. We can offer the services of a veterinarian if any of the animals boarding at the kennel get sick. It's very reassuring to folks who board their dogs or cats with us to know that if they are away and their pet is sick or injured, we won't have to run around to find someone to treat their pet. In the beginning, we converted one small room into a small veterinarian office and as the boarding business grew, we added a full-service veterinarian hospital to our boarding kennel.
We tailor our boarding arrangements to the families' requests, too. Some people have more than one dog and family dogs like to be together. Many times when we board multiple pets for a family, they request that all of their pets be kept together in one kennel run so that they can keep each other company and sleep together. We have thirty-nine 4' by 7' kennel runs and each run is heated and air conditioned. At the owner's request, we walk the dogs three or four times a day and spend time playing with all of the animals. We can board pets overnight, weekly, or long-term if need be. Usually it's weekly or over a weekend for vacations and such, but we can also board for longer periods, too.
As the kennel expanded, we also expanded the veterinary hospital. We moved into this building in December 2003 and now offer a full-service animal hospital complete with exam rooms, a treatment center, a surgery room, a dental room, and an x-ray room. Our small animal veterinary practice offers regular veterinary care exams, vaccines, spaying, neutering, minor sugeries, and dental work and the kennel offers a complete line of grooming services for dogs, cats, rabbits, and Guinea pigs.
We've recently begun offering alternative therapies for pets, also. We utilize the services of Animal Massage Therapist Maria Duthie who works with animals, especially dogs, suffering from pain due to arthritis, car accidents, or other injuries or ailments. The treatments can really help the dogs feel more comfortable, and Maria will treat your pet by appointment either here or in your home.
When people board their pets with us, they can rest easy knowing that no matter what happens, emergency medical care is available for their pet at all times. Anyone bringing a pet to Danielle's Boarding Kennel quickly realizes that their pet will be treated like a family member, just like they would be at home.
In addition to the work we do here, Dr. Pal is responsible for all the puppies and kittens at the Strongsville Petland store, and we stay active in the community by working closely with the local Humane Societies.
