At twenty-two years of age, Gloria Keberle-Manhoff attended Polaris Career Center to learn how to groom her own dogs. Recognizing Gloria's deep love for animals, her teacher, a professional groomer herself, offered Gloria more advanced instruction if Gloria would join the staff at her grooming shop. By 1979, Gloria was beginning to groom a few animals on her own, and in September 1993 opened her own shop in Strongsville with the help of her husband Tyrone. While Gloria manned the shop, Tyrone walked house to house dropping off fliers and telling everyone he met about the new business. We visited Gloria at Darling Doggies recently, and listened as she spoke of her love for animals and the services her company provides;

Darling Doggies specializes in the grooming needs of small and medium sized dogs. We offer a complete range of grooming services including hair cuts, baths, and nails. For the comfort of the dogs, we call you when we're finished grooming your pet so you can pick them up right away which helps keep them calm and stress-free. We try to limit the number of dogs we have in the shop at one time, and your pet's comfort is always our top priority.

I give every dog a lot of love and patience. Each of them has their own personality, and I strive to understand each one's needs while discovering how to make grooming an enjoyable experience for both them and myself. By grooming your pets from the time they're young, you'll find they quickly come to view grooming as a very natural, pleasant experience.

My entire life revolves around animals. Besides owning many dogs myself, I do pet photography, am a freelance artist, and give lectures at schools promoting spaying and neutering of pets. I've taught First Aid and CPR for pets, performed wildlife rehabilitation, and I used to train and show dogs. I take my dogs to nursing homes to visit the residents, Tyrone and I go to Key West to swim with the dolphins in the open ocean, and we've been to Cape Cod to videotape the humpback whales.

My backyard is a registered with the State of Ohio as a natural wildlife preserve. It took years to build due to the stringent requirements concerning needed plant life, prescribed amount of underbrush, and the pond I built to supply the necessary water. Surrounded by a privacy fence, it's like my own little park in the backyard, and just looks like you're out in the middle of a large nature preserve. As you can see, I've built my entire life around my love for animals and nature, and I'd like give a very special thank-you to Tyrone for all his help and support in making this business grow.
