Fresh out of college in 2001, Kelly Honkomp teamed up with her brother John to open their sunglass shop in Belden Village Mall. Their first week in business they did double the volume they had originally projected, and plans were soon drawn to open other locations. In 2002, Kelly and her sister Lisa Ortiz opened Eye Deals in Strongsville's Southpark Mall, and this entrepreneurial team has now opened their third location in Great Norther Mall in North Olmsted. We stopped by Eye Deals in Southpark recently, and listened as Kelly provided this overview of their growing business;
Eye Deals offers over 300 different styles of sunglasses that emulate the most popular and best selling designer styles you'll find. All of our sunglasses feature UV 400 for maximum protection, and are virtually indistinguishable from those manufactured by Adidas, Dolche Gabbana, Ray-Ban, and most other famous designers, just without the heart-stopping designer price tag. We offer an exclusive lifetime warranty on our glasses and, if they break, will replace them at no additional charge as long as you have your receipt.
We also sell all kinds of sunglass accessories, cases, visor clips, and micro fiber bags. We have reading glasses with UV 400 protection, clip-on sunglasses, hard-to-find tinted reading glasses, and night-time driving glasses in all different sizes and shades. We stock children's sunglasses, some with swings on the sides for little boys, and others with sunshines on the side for little girls. At Eye Deals, we take pride in having something for everybody.
