Dr. Thomas D. Thomas attended Case Western Reserve Dental School where he met his fellow graduate Dr. Mario Pavicic. They both graduated in 1992 and began practicing dentistry together. In 2000 they opened Five Points Dentistry, named for the intersection of the communities they serve. Their goal was to develop a practice of modern, high-tech dentistry. The practice quickly began to live up to its name as the first choice for five star care. We visited with Drs. Thomas and Pavicic earlier this week and listened as they described the face of modern dentistry.
Five Points Dentistry specializes in general dentistry offering a full range of services performed within our own office. We handle fillings, crowns, bridges, dentures, partials, single visit root canal treatment, extractions, implants, and veneers, in addition to treating minor gum diseases. Our restorations are either tooth colored composite or ceramic as we strive for a metal free practice. We offer one visit, in-office tooth whitening using both ZOOM and the Brite Smile techniques.
CEREC restorations are our main area of specialization. During a single visit, we have the capacity to prepare and scan the tooth using an infrared camera which provides a three-dimensional image of the tooth that can be viewed on a computer monitor. From this image, we design the crown, inlay, or onlay using specialized dental software which transmits the design to the milling unit which creates the piece from a ceramic block matching the shade of the patient's teeth. We bond the crown, inlay, or onlay into place during that same visit and it creates a very strong, long-lasting, and aesthetically pleasing restoration. This wonderful method makes multiple visits and the wearing of a temporary tooth a thing of the past. Most patients tell us that the new tooth feels just like one of their own and they look fantastic!
We focus on providing our patients with a comfortable environment that includes warm, scented neck pillows, chairs with vibrating cushions, paraffin hand treatments, and a collection of movies they can watch during any procedure. We employ the latest state-of-the-art technology that has proven less time consuming, less costly, and more comfortable for our patients. We utilize lasers to scan your teeth searching for cavities that might be missed using conventional techniques. Our cleanings are performed using ultrasonic instrumentation rather than scraping procedures and we use an intra-oral camera to provide before and after pictures of everything we do. Instead of using conventional x-rays, we employ digital imaging to provide detailed images that can be enlarged and shown on a computer screen to assist our patients in understanding their treatments.
We're a family practice and treat everyone from three years to 100 years of age. Due to our proximity to the gym next door and the daycare center, we treat many children who have discovered that due to modern technology, dental visits can be positive, pleasant experiences.
