Sam Flesher's job left him feeling unfulfilled. Sure, he went to work each day, but he dreaded waking up in the morning and he definitely dreaded going to work. Finally, Sam decided it was time for a change so he gave his two week notice. His supervisor asked him if he had another job and when Sam admitted that he didn't, his supervisor said, "Well, since you don't have anything, my brother-in-law runs these seasonal calendar and game stores and he's always looking for managers. I don't know much about them, but here's his name and number." Sam gave him a call and ended up being hired as a manager at a calendar store in Canton. When the owner decided to return to the corporate world, Sam became the owner/operator of many of the Northeast Ohio stores. Originally run as a seasonal business in a kiosk at South Park Center, Go! The Game Store has now taken permanent space and plans to remain open throughout the year. We visited with Sam recently and listened as he explained Go! The Game Store's niche;

Go! The Game Store carries a wide variety of board games, jigsaw puzzles, hard to find games, and new releases. Most of our board games are ones that are rather hard to find such as Mille Bornes which was very popular in the 1960s, Pit, and Pass the Pig. We also bring in a lot of new releases each year. We have a huge selection of Monopolies and a very nice selection of chess sets. We carry a lot of jigsaw puzzles, especially the 3D puzzles and the very large jigsaw puzzles. Many people have gotten tired of the standard 3,000 to 4,000 piece puzzles and are searching for the puzzles with 8,000 to 18,000 pieces. We also have an entire section of children's games, toy-type items, and wooden jigsaw puzzles.

Some of the different Monopoly games we carry are Cleveland in a Box, Simpson's Monopoly, Spiderman Monopoly, and Scooby Doo Monopoly. Our most popular Monopolies are Betty Boop Monopoly, I Love Lucy Monopoly, and, of course, Cleveland in a Box. Our jigsaw puzzles basically range from 300 to 18,000 pieces, although we do have some smaller 100 pieces puzzles. Other big items this year are anything having to do with poker. We have 7 and 11½ gram clay chips, dealer shoes, and a lot of games such as Three Card Poker, Let It Ride, and Texas Hold 'Em.

We've been in the mall for seven years stocking the types of games and jigsaw puzzles that can't be found in most stores.
