Something for Everyone

In the late 1980s, Helen Wilhelm was searching for something she could do one day a week, something that would be just for her, fun, relaxing, and thoroughly enjoyable. She and a girlfriend opened a little one room store in Chagrin Falls that was often frequented by customers from Strongsville, North Royalton, and Brunswick who would ask, "Why don't you open a store in our area?" By the end of the store's first year, Helen decided to move to Strongsville, where she began scouting for an entire house that could hold something for everyone.

She found the perfect house at 17960 Pearl Road. At that time, this section of Pearl Road was almost entirely wooded, without another business in sight. Helen applied for, and received, a variance from the City of Strongsville that would allow her to place her store in a home. She began to fill the entire house with a wide selection of items, and has been making friends daily since 1989. We toured Helen's dream house recently, and listened as she outlined her store's offerings;

House of Wilhelm specializes in having something for everyone. We carry antiques, handmade crafts, collectibles, tin signs, and home accent pieces. One of our rooms is dedicated to Oriental pieces, another is filled with items sharing the Southwestern motif. We sell tin signs and hand-painted yard signs, which draw customers from as far away as Willoughby and Wickliffe. We're a Gold Paw dealer for Boyd's Bears, and we have not only the new ones, but the old ones, too. We also carry Bearington, Ty, Russ, Coin and Holy Bears. The entire house, every room both upstairs and downstairs, is filled with merchandise, and we're very proud of the way the store is dressed. We redecorate at Halloween, Christmas, Easter, and again when we take on a Victorian look for the Spring wedding season.

We receive new items in the store weekly, and our displays are in a constant state of updating. In addition to attending all the major trade shows, my husband and I travel extensively and bring back items from all over the country and around the world. Whether we're in the Orient, Australia, or touring the United States, we're always searching for items that will ensure every visitor to our store finds something interesting.

House of Wilhelm also provides liquidation and house sale services. My training as an appraiser enables us to establish optimal prices for your items and conduct the entire sale from beginning to end. We can arrange a sale of everything from a few items to an entire home full of furnishings. Everything is done for you so you don't have to be involved in the sale at all. Nothing is too large, or too small, and we'll be happy to meet with you, discuss your items, and explain how we can help.

House of Wilhelm truly has something for everyone. To discover what they have for you, visit House of Wilhelm today and don't forget to tell them The Advocate sent you!
